Web accessibility is often referred to as compliance (WCAG, RGAA). More rarely as a product quality standard, and much less as a direct performance lever.
On the ground, however, the link is simple.
When a user fails to read, understand or act, they eventually leave. And with him, the expected action: register, buy, ask for a quote.
What makes the subject deceptive is that these losses often remain invisible. They don't go up like bugs. They express themselves differently: hesitations, discreet abandonments, missed opportunities – therefore direct losses of leads and turnover.

In reality, they often rely on the same fundamentals: clear structure, understandable content, explicit interactions.
Standards such as WCAG or RGAA formalize them, but their scope is far beyond compliance.
On the one hand, search engines favour structured and readable content. On the other hand, users move more easily on an unambiguous path.
Less ambiguity is less hesitation. And so more actions.
The effect continues after conversion: a simple experience gives fewer reasons to leave, more reasons to return, and more chances to recommend.
In other words, accessibility acts as a multiplier throughout the funnel.
This naturally raises a question: where are the most costly losses today?

Forms, first. They concentrate a large part of the abandonments.

This often leads to a legitimate objection: does this not force design too much?
There are indeed arbitrations to be made. But just like performance or responsive.
In fact, these constraints clarify more than they limit.
An accessible interface is not a "minimum simplified" interface. It is an interface that assumes clarity. And this clarity often reinforces the impact rather than weakens.
This is particularly evident in design systems: when components integrate these requirements from the start, teams spend less time debating, produce faster and increase consistency.
Creativity does not disappear, it changes ground. Less ambiguity, more intent.
And at this point, the question is no longer really "should we do it?", but rather "where to start?".
In most cases, it is not necessary to resume everything.
In 80% of situations, some areas concentrate most of the losses: forms, CTA, key navigation.
It is often more effective to target a few high-impact points: a key form, a landing strategic page, a conversion tunnel.
Make mistakes understandable, keep labels visible, improve contrasts, clarify CTAs or adapt areas clickable on mobile... These adjustments may seem simple, but their effects are immediate.
The problem is that these frictions are rarely visible in conventional tools.
A pragmatic approach is to correct, measure (complement, abandon), then gradually expand.
Only then comes industrialization: components, design system, tests, quality criteria integrated into teams. This progressive path avoids the "big construction" effect while quickly capturing value.
Each friction is a potential loss, and accessibility is one of the concrete ways to reduce it.
By making interfaces more readable, understandable and usable, it mechanically improves the ability of users to complete their actions.
And in fact, this effect goes far beyond compliance issues: it benefits all users in their actual usage conditions.
