WordCamps are the great appointments of the WordPress community. Organized in different cities, they bring together developers, agencies, freelancers and publishers of solutions that bring the CMS ecosystem to life.
At Be API, this is an event we never miss. At each edition, part of the team goes there to exchange with the community, contribute to the open source project and closely monitor ecosystem developments.
For the Nice edition, Alexandre (CTO), Penelope (project job) Yann (Commercial Director) and Jules (developer) participated in the conferences, meetings and the traditional day of contribution. Team Mediapapa was also there with Nicolas, Stéphane and Jason.

Contribute to WordPress
The day before each WordCamp, the traditional Day of Contribution is organized by the Francophone WordPress Association (WPFR). During a day, participants work directly on the WordPress project : bug fixes, improved accessibility, feature tests, translation or documentation...
These sessions illustrate the CMS' open source spirit: everyone can contribute, be it developer, designer, project manager or user.
This edition allowed us to work on accessibility improvements of the WordPress core, tested and validated collectively during the day. But also, world premiere, contributors were able to test and validate the beta 3 of the next version 7.0 of WordPress that will be released in a few weeks.
Beyond the technical aspect, these moments are also an opportunity to interact with other players in the ecosystem and to confront practices.
"The contribution day allows you to get out of your bubble and meet other professionals who use WordPress in very different contexts."
A Community Renewed and Structured
This edition confirms a trend that has been visible in recent years: the WordPress community continues to renew.
If some historical figures are still present, new heads appear at each edition : new players in the sector, young developers, professionals who discover the event for the first time... A very positive renewal, indispensable to maintain a dynamic community and to make the project evolve over time.
At the same time, the ecosystem has become largely professionalised. WordCamps today bring together most of the players who use WordPress in their business: agencies, companies, solutions publishers or independent specialists.
The discussions go far beyond the technical framework to cover broader topics such as project organization, industrialization of developments, economic models or changes in trades.
Artificial intelligence, an essential subject
As in many tech events today, artificial intelligence was at the heart of the discussions.
Automation of certain development tasks, code generation from models or support in workflows: tools evolve very quickly and open new possibilities.
But the issue is not just to use AI. The central question is: know how to integrate intelligently into work processes.
At Be API, these developments lead us to test new tools, analyze their limitations and adapt our production methods. If the AI can speed up some steps, the developer value moves to other dimensions: system architecture, code quality, security and validation of results.
Mediapapa, sponsor of the event
This edition of the WordCamp Nice was also the occasion to find Mediapapa, the advanced management solution of WordPress media library, developed by Be API.
The team had a stand to present a new version of the product, enriched by feedback from the previous edition and user tests.
Throughout the event, the demonstrations allowed to exchange with users, partners and customers about the uses and needs related to media management in WordPress (the return of the Mediapapa team) is to be read here.)

An appointment to take the pulse of the ecosystem
Beyond conferences and meetings, WordCamps remain privileged moments to observe the evolutions of the WordPress ecosystem New practices, changes in trades or the emergence of new actors.
Between open source contributions, exchanges between professionals and discussions on the major changes in the sector, this Nice edition has once again confirmed the vitality of a community that continues to evolve.
And for us, it's always a great reason not to miss the next date.
