Unaf
A successful digital transformation: 2 WordPress website factories and nearly 100 sites deployed.
The National Union of Family Associations (Unaf) is a key French institution for the defence of the interests of families in France. Engaged in various fields such as health, housing and childhood, Unaf works closely with its network of 99 Departmental Unions of Family Associations (Udaf) and 13 Regional Unions of Family Associations (Uraf).

Our objectives
1
Optimize the ergonomics of network sites
2
Standardize communication
3
Simplifying local site management

Phase 1: Digital ecosystem design
To meet the challenges of the Unaf, the agency has designed a digital ecosystem that is entirely tailored, based on two websites factories WordPress.
The first stage of the project was based on collaborative UX workshops, which identified the network's strategic and organizational needs. These exchanges have been crucial for designing optimised user paths and laying the foundations for a suitable solution.
The second stage concerned development websites factories.
- One website factory for national sites : Three distinct WordPress themes were developed for unaf.fr, for families.fr and defending families.fr, to meet the specific requirements of each site.
- One website factory for local sites, with a replicable model that combines centralized management and local customization. This model, designed to be intuitive and practical, offers activating features as needed.
Be API has pooled maximum resources (page templates, blocks, features and media) to centralize management, while allowing a high degree of customization for each site.
The first phase was successfully completed by launching national sites, paving the way for the following phase: the deployment of local sites.
Phase 2: Deployment of local sites
This deployment is organized in successive waves. A total of 76 Udaf sites and 17 Uraf sites will be online over a three-year period.
Given the scale of the project and the number of sites to be deployed, a standardized approach was adopted, with a specific process replicated for each site.
- Launch meeting (onboarding) Contact with local teams, identification of needs and technical adjustments.
- Site Creation : duplication based on the site model, with input from local teams.
- Online Final validation and publication of the site.
- Maintenance : continuous monitoring to ensure the performance and evolution of the platform.
Each local structure can customize its support by choosing from options such as back-office training, iconographic research or SEO support.
« This project allowed us to nourish and strengthen the relationship with the Unaf. It is a large-scale project, humanly very rewarding. We have forged real relationships, and our expertise on WordPress/Gutenberg is demonstrated by the number of successful launches. » Elizabeth, Project Leader at Be API
Accompaniment: key to project success
We know how crucial it is to involve all teams to ensure the success of the project. Our project management experts worked closely with local teams, adapting the methodology to the specifics of each structure. Regular follow-up points and trainings on WordPress and Gutenberg have been proposed to ensure optimal control of the tools. This approach has enabled local teams to take control of their sites with confidence and efficiency.
« The real asset was personalized accompaniment and the human aspect. The project leader, a key red thread, coordinated with the Agency's various experts. The methodology, including rigorous monitoring and high-quality deliverables, served the objectives of the project. » Laure Mondet, Unaf
Collaboration and expertise: a strong partnership
L-Unaf, through Laure Mondet and Sylvaine Garderet, played a key role in presenting the new platform designed with its network, integrating Udaf and Uraf into the project in a fluid way.
Local teams were able to benefit from valuable support from the national institution, on such aspects as the contribution and creation of content, or the in-depth knowledge of WordPress.
This collaborative work and the national communication service's leadership of the project were key factors in the project's success.
The agency has accompanied us from end to end, involving us at every stage of the project, so that we are in charge throughout the construction site.
