Last week held the essential appointment of the French WordPress community. The Be APIsts of the Southwest were able to gather and participate in the event. Back on this WordCamp Basque version, mixing collective energy, conferences and discussions about the future of WordPress.
Collaboration in Action: Contribution Day
On the eve of the WordCamp, we were already on foot for Contribution Day. Actively participating in the evolution of WordPress is not a one-off process at Be API, but a mission carried by the agency since its creation.

What we like about these days is the collective dynamics that are taking place and the power of the encounters that give rise to many projects and developments.
A concrete example: the creation of a new plugin, resulting from the meeting of Stéphane Guillot, developer at Be API, with Willy Bahuaud.
"It was the first time I was on a Day of Contribution. I saw others participating, a little away, thinking it wasn't for me. I had the opportunity this year, and that's where I met Willy. "
Stéphane, developer at Be API
At the turn of a conversation, Stéphane shares an idea that moves him in mind.
"I wanted to create a solution to manage field translations in ACF. I wanted to do it for several years, but I didn't necessarily find the time, this was never the time. Now we said GO we're trying!"
In an hour of time, on a corner table – yes, it looks like the beginning of a legend – the two developers encode a first functional version of the plugin. The next step? Refine it, to share it open-source to the community.
This example perfectly illustrates the collaborative energy resulting from these Contribution Days. An energy that we are happy to share on every occasion.
WordCamp: between expertise, collaboration and networking
The next day, it's the J-J under the sun of Biarritz. A WordCamp is always the showcase of the major advances of WordPress and this edition does not derogate from the rule. The conferences follow, between technical topics and cross-cutting topics, sharing expertise and feedback. The diversity of speakers offers a real wealth of perspectives and important networking opportunities.

Special mention in Amaury, CEO of the agency, for his intervention on the number of plugins ideal. Spoiler: the answer is not so simple! For those curious who would have missed, the replay will soon be available.
The Full Site Editing (FSE) was one of the main topics of this edition. Its rise in power announces a decisive turning point for WordPress. It was mentioned at several conferences, and again at the closing round table. The opportunity to cross points of view on the future of WordPress, involving Amaury alongside Deborah Donnier, Rémi Corson, Mickaël Gris and Lycia Diaz. One of the themes of this round table is the real-time collaboration in the WordPress administration console.
An evolution that promises to transform the way teams work on CMS. While this perspective may create some reservations among those who prefer and/ or are only aware of a more individual and sequential approach, in Be API we perceive a real potential.
Taking as an example the transition from Photoshop to collaborative platforms like Figma, real-time collaboration on WordPress has many advantages. And not just in the business world: in training, it would allow trainers and learners to interact, modify and test simultaneously. Within companies, it would promote synergy between different trades, thus optimizing time and enriching collaborative experience. Imagine a designer working with a webmaster, each bringing their real-time expertise on the same project. This is a promise of efficiency, but above all, a new dimension of collaborative work that we look forward to testing.

Acknowledgement and conclusion
A big thank you to the sponsors, true supporters without which the event could not have taken place. To discover them, go to: https://biarritz.wordcamp.org/2023/sponsors/. We also thank all the organizers and volunteers who made this edition a success, and who closed with an after party in an exceptional place that is the big Biarritz aquarium.
This WordCamp testifies once again to the continuous evolution of CMS, which, far from being frozen, adapts to the needs of the market and users, as well as to technological advances. It remains a relevant tool to support all kinds of large-scale digital projects in a sustainable, reliable and secure manner.
To participate in a WordCamp is to immerse yourself deeply in the world of CMS. It is important to remember that having access to such an event for such an accessible price serves as an exception in the world of technology. That is why we want to participate in each edition and continue to support these gatherings.
To all WordPress enthusiasts, we urge you to experience this experience at least once.
